Data Usage Policy

This page explains how Analytics Portfolio uses data you give us access to about your websites.

Since Analytics Portfolio is a service that aggregates, analyzes and presents data from a large number of sources, we handle a lot of data about your websites.

We use the data to create the reports you see on the site, in the weekly email report we send you and in any pdf reports you generate in the application. Your data will never be made publicly accessible.

Non publicly accessible data

When you sign up to Analytics Portfolio we ask for limited access to data from your Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools accounts. This is done through Google's permission system (OAuth) and our access may be revoked by you at any time.

Google Analytics

The exact information we have access to depends on what Google Analytics makes available through their API and may change as the API is updated, but you can assume that we have read only access to most of the data you can see in the Google Analytics application.

This is the specific information we query Google Analytics for:

  • Web site names, urls, time zones and other basic information
  • Number of visits, new visits, page views, bounce rates and traffic sources
  • Browser and device usage
  • Goal conversions
  • Page loading times
  • Social events
  • Acquisition channel data

Google Webmaster Tools

This is the specific information we query Webmaster Tools for:

  • Any crawling errors
  • Sitemaps for your sites

Publicly accessible data

In addition to the data from Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools, we gather data about your websites from sources that are publicly available to anyone. This includes:

  • Data from Google PageSpeed Insights
  • Data about how your sites are shared on social networks like Twitter, Facebook and GooglePlus
  • SEO data generated by moz.com
  • Domain registration information

Protecting your data

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

We also limit the data we store to the minimum we need to make our service useful:

  • We only use the information about your web sites to display reports to you and anyone you set up an account for.
  • We only store the cached reports - no other data you have given us access to.
  • We only store data for websites you actively select for tracking. We immediately delete all collected data for websites you deselect.
  • If you delete or disable your account, if it's paused, or if you suspend your payments, we delete all collected data for all your websites.
